St. Thomas USVI Information

As one of three islands in a chain under American governance, St. Thomas USVI combines many of the conveniences of living in the United States with a spirit that is distinctly Caribbean, from its beautiful tropical scenery to the laid-back attitude of its friendly locals. Foreign currency can be exchanged at most major banks on St. Thomas USVI and there are local bank branches spread throughout the island. Passport requirements: Entry requirements vary for each destination, it is your responsibility to verify you have the correct documents prior to travel. July 1, 2005 a valid passport is required for travel to St. Thomas. January 1, 2006 a valid passport is required for travel to all the Caribbean and Mexico. Time Zone: St. Thomas USVI falls into the Atlantic Standard Time, four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time and one hour ahead of major east coast cities like New York. Driving: Driving in St. Thomas USVI is done on the left hand side of the road, while most cars have their steering wheels on the left-hand side, as in North America. Voltage: Electrical outlets in St. Thomas USVI use the same current as North America, 110 volts. Language: The residents of St. Thomas USVI speak English with a lilt that is distinctly Creole, sometimes making it difficult to understand.
